A question about Color Picker with a color wheel

Ver 1.9.0 on an ION

I have a Martin MX-10 patched in.  When I open up the color picker, it correctly only lets me pick points that correspond to the actual colors on the color wheel.  Is there any way to show the available points without having to just keep picking until you get close enough?  Same with filtering out all but the gel swatches that are actually available?

  • Can you not use the ML Controls which has all the colours in the colour selection. I think the good thing about the colour picker as is, is that you can pick an area and it gives you's the closest, pick a darker blue and find the nearest on my fixture...

  • When you have the fixtures selected, press down on the encoder for "color wheel" parameter and the encoder display will show you all the available color options and allow you to scroll through them using the 'next' key. This is the fastest way to pick color on a color wheel fixture.

The color picker and color swatchbooks are really tools for speeding up CMY color mixing and they aren't  relevant for color wheel fixtures.

  • But if I'm correct, the color picker and swatchbooks are the only way to "see" the color.  You already can pick the color by both, it's just that there is no indication as to what colors are valid.   It just seems that if you can draw in the available colors for a particular CMY, why not for color wheels?

I dont see the point (it's the opposite of what the colour wheel is for if feel), if you use the ML Controls you get what you are asking for

Here is what I am trying to point out is that what you are asking is already their. you can see the colour selection on your fixture.

No, this is what the ML controls do, showing you what the particular colors are on the wheels.  That's what the ML control module is for.

When you use Color Picker or Swatch Book, the console does the best it can to "match" the color you are selecting in picker or gel/swatch book to  the available colors on the wheel.  The Color Picker and Swatch Book work best when you have a CMY/CYM mixing system and are asking the console to find the closest match to the fixtures mixing system.
