Console can't initialize Hardware (APEX 10)

For more clarification:
Nothing out of the ordinary happened before the error occured. 
I booted the console up and suddenly it popped up.
There were no power outages and also no unusual radio activity close to the console.

I tried restarting without the peripherals and external monitors as well, but to no avail.

It also looks like your encoder screen thinks it is supposed to have a main screen layout

I was able to solve the problem yesterday after the show.

The solution was to check the "primary display" checkmark for the right main monitor. Something I wouldn't have considered a possible solution intuitively.

I took a few seconds, but then everything was back to normal.

That's because the encoder screen took a stroll to the external display....
