Help with fixture editor

When we've used custom CXI fixture profiles in the past (both strings 0 to 100), there seemed to be a scaling difference if the HOME value is non-zero.  For CXI's the home values are DMX 125/115.  If I enter DMX 127 for both parameters in Live I get 50.9 and 49.8  on the display when the CXI is configured this way.    However, if I change the HOME value to 0 for both, DMX 127 produces an even 50 for both.  Even stranger results have occured if there are multiple ranges.

This presented a problem when converting from a strand built show to EOS using custom CXI profiles.

As of 1.9 the behaviour is still there.  What are the rules governing the behaviour of the HOME setting?  Maybe there should be a manual supplement download for fixture editing specifically.

  • In some cases the value of HOME affects the mapping of the user range to dmx levels, also affected is the value the range select buttons snap to, depending on which range contains the HOME value..  Another factor may be whether the profile is a copy with secret logic, or built from scratch.

I've found the best thing to do is to keep the HOME value zero and use a home preset instead.

What I would wish for is a fixture editor where I could select the snap points directly instead of the console making a guess based on undocumented rules.
