Snapshot

Using an Ion running 1.9, dual touch screens

Had a Direct Select open in Lower Left - though it's actually the bottom of the right monitor, as well as a DS in Tab on the top of the right monitor, then another DS in CIA on the left monitor.

Recorded a Snapshot to keep those settings and discovered that recalling a Snapshot only brings back the CIA Display page, not the Virtual Control set to the CIA.'

Any reason the Snapshot doesn't recall that Virtual Control to the CIA, or am I doing something dumb ?.

  • Hey Steve.  Sorry about the delay in replying.  No, you aren't doing anything wrong.  The CIA issue is on our list of things to fix.

Sorry for the problems it will cause you until then.

  • Thanks Anne

Didn't cause any problems as I wasn't going to the CIA when live, and was greatly enjoying having open 5 direct selects (Focus/Group as split in CIA, Color and Beam as split in Tab and 50 Presets) in a one off with 9 ML's.  It was amazing and everything I hoped Ion would do, especially since 4 ML's were added in last minute and I built up stuff painlessly.

  • How did you find the Direct Selects worked for busking?  I was having difficulty swopping color eavery other beat while changing positions on every fourth beat.  I was using two seperate touch screens.  I guess the console / software was not intended to process more than one DS at a time...

I'm actually finding it all works reasonably well.  No you can't do 2 DS presses on the same beat, but by building up some color fade effects on subs, I can run the effect, then move the fixtures to fan and house sweeps, etc... with Focus Palletes, which works OK.  Note that with (my) CMY fixtures, I can't bump between colors anyway, so an effect fade works fine and you can set up 2 types, one for less saturated (Less scale on a Linear effect with CMY), and another with greater saturation of color by adding more scale.

I have the screens set up as left monitor with CIA having a DS split 2x20 for Group Palletes, (5 "Studio Spots normally, though I added 4 Elation units 2 weeks ago).  The upper DS on that screen is Focus Palettes.  Right screen upper is DS in "Open in lower left mode", also split DS 2x20 with Color and Beams Palletes.  I pre-built about 20 colors and a ton of gobo selections such as "Tri-Wing Slow CCW" (Counter Clock-Wise), then "Tri-Wing Slow CW", etc... building up a gobo slot full of options laterally for 20 choices for 8 gobo's, plus Small Beam, Hard, Small Beam Soft, Lenticluar Lg Soft, etc... on add'l Beam Pallete pages

Then 50 DS Presets on a DS as Tab. The Presets have all sorts of Cyc stuff, plus deck and house moves, and total over 40 presets.

Effect rate is via the encoder.  Strobe is via the Encoder as well (comes up in Form).  Plus 4 or so add'l effect subs running Circles, Ballyhoo's, Figure 8's, etc... all easy to add by pressing the sub bump button and running the fader up.  There's also an Inhibitive sub for ML intensities.

For the past weekend, with 2 one-off dance school recitals (no cuing), I was very busy,  but got some amazing looks just running stuff manually.  Had 80 subs in operation.

HUGE improvement over an Express/Emphasis running cues !.

  • Any more on this? I'd love to be able to record direct selects in the CIA as part of a snapshot...
