Another RFR Question.

Greetings. I'm having considerable difficulty getting an RFR to work with my theater's Eos board. I've combed through the most recent manual for the board, to no avail.

The base station is plugged in through USB, and the "Receive" light on the back of the base is green, so I'm assuming that it's operating correctly. However, when I turn on the RFR, it displays the software version number and "HF ok", and does not proceed to the control screen depicted in the manuals. However, when I connected the remote to the board to charge, the control screen did pop up and I could use the remote to active channels, etc.

Now, it's possible that our Eos is not running the most up-to-date software from ETC. Barring that, however, what could potentially be the issue with our RFR?

Sincere thanks for any replies.

  • Howdy Samuel,

first off you need to make sure that the RFR Handheld and Base have the same HF Channels and Network Group. The base channel is

set in the Eos settings under RFR, adn then the Handheld settings are configured, by holding down the "C" key when turning on the

handheld. Then after those are matching, you can change the connection method by holding down the "." key when you power up the

handheld, and instead of DIRECT USB, you need to pick USB BASE.

This should allow it to work fine.

You also need to make sure the Handheld is up-to-date with the V2.0.7 Firmware; if not, you can download it from our website to a usb stick,

and update it from your console.

    Have fun!

  • Thank you, Corey. Though I'll have to check with the technical director before attempting your solutions, I have no doubts that they will prove helpful.

Thank you for your time and response.
