Merging showfiles

Hello,

I'm trying to merge an old showfile into my current one, and am having trouble with it. We're doing a revival of a show that was originally plotted on a 520, so I imported it and messed around with it to make it Eos friendly. I then unpatched all the channels and tried merging it in. I did the cues first, then palettes and presets. It kept the hard data for the units, but not the references. I then tried merging the palettes first, then presets, then cues, thinking that a different order might mean the data became referenced. But that hasn't worked either.

So...does anyone have any advice on how I can do this without losing the references? Any other merge advice would be gratefully received too.

Also, when importing the cues, it won't let me import the first one - which is 0.5. Any ideas why this might be?

Thanks

  • Jane, I think you want to merge the cues and references at the same time...if this doesn't work can you send me the showfile?

You might want to merge the existing cues and references into higher numbered ones in the advanced menu.

    thanks-

  • Hi Luke,

You're right, doing them at the same time works, thank you. I'm now having a slight brain haemorrhage over the colour palettes. They're the only palettes/presets/cues etc that overlap with my existing showfile. But merging the colour palettes in loses my current colour info. So, is the only way to do this to move one of the showfile's colour palettes to higher numbers, merge the two files, then manually go through and copy across the colour palette info??

  • So I sorted the colour palettes (as above) and now something very odd has happened. I did a whole load of work on the showfile before lunch, including relabelling cues, presets, beam palettes and putting marks into the showfile. I've just come back and in Blind, made a mistake. So I thought I'd reload the showfile I saved before lunch. Having done that, I've discovered that all the cues have reverted back to their old labels, the colour palette information has reverted to hard data values, and none of the marks are there anymore. It's like I've loaded a different file, but I definitely haven't. It's really weird, as I relabelled all the cues before relabelling the presets or palettes, and the presets and palettes have retained their new labels. I think I'm going mad. I really don't want to have to do all that work all over again. Is this something anyone else has come across?
