Old Ion Xp LIcence

Hello,

I have got a damaged ion console.

It was Windows XP based Ion (1 network port)

But as the motherboard was damaged, in order to use it, I changed everything inside, motherboard, hard disk and so on.
Now i use the Ion like a On Pc with 1024 parameters with the preinstalled purple usb license.... Everything works great ( command wing, encoders, everything) i just want to upgrade parameters.....

1: The license from inside ion unlocks 1024 parameters in Ion. when i put it In my laptop it unlocks 6144 parameters.(wow)
2: I took one new (green) nomad license from my friend , it has 6144 parameters but when i put it in Ion it shows 2048...

summary:

Ion console with its own license=1024

Ion console with 6144 nomad license=2048

Laptop with Ion's installed ( i removed it from Ion) license=6144

Laptop with 6144 nomad license=6144

How do you explain this confusion , If anyone can help me thanks in advance

  • If you combine history of dongles and licenses with history of your xp ion. All that does make sense.

when nomad was introduced you could buy dongles in 512, 1024 or 2048 parameters (I think you could even upgrade to 1536). There has been also client dongles out there wich would unlock 256 params. Kind of a mess. Then that was changed that a dongle would have ether 1024 or 6k. 256 and 512s became 1k’s and all bigger ones will unlock 6k.

So nomad will unlock ether 1k or 6k no matter what was written on the dongle originally. It recognises your ion one as a 1k and that is an upgrade to 6k.

Im not really sure about that but i assume that your 6k dongle was bought as 2k . And that is  what is recognised by the old hardware.

  • And by the way: nice move to recycle your ion! I like the idea!
