Communication with an ArtNet device

When Eos V1.9 is used, communication with an ArtNet device (a device like PRG Series 400 7-Port Ethernet Switch) cannot be performed.

A problem did not occur in V1.8.

It seems that the signal from EOS is not converted to DMX although all setup was tried from ECU.

The good solution is looked for.

  • Hi Aki,

Could you let us know a little more about your system. A quick look online at the PRG Series 400 7-Port Ethernet Switch suggests that this is just an Ethernet Switch. What else is in the system? What device are you using to convert your network data to DMX?

    Thanks

  • Hi Graham,

    Thank you for your reply.

The ArtNet device currently used was different. I am sorry to make it get confused.

It was Virtuoso DMX Node of PRG which is tried in order that a customer may use.

Since I only heard the report of a customer, I have tried the output test in the company using Capture software.

It seems that the IP address which EOS is using for ArtNet is static 2.255.255.255 according to explanation of Anne,

but communication is impossible even if it changes a subnet setup of an ArtNer device.

In V1.9, I think that ArtNet is not outputted?

  • Hi Aki,

I have just had a play with Art Net on an Eos running 1.9 and I can view an output through DMX Workshop.

Things to check (if you haven't already done so):

Art Net is enabled in the shell - Settings>Network>Protocols section

If it is enabled, is the Default box also checked? If not, you will need to ensure that the devices you are running via Art-Net have been assigned to Art Net in the Interface section in the Patch.

(Remember Art Net universe 0 is console universe 1)

If this is all good and you still have no luck could you post the IP addresses and Subnet settings of all the devices in your network, that might give us a clue.

Apologies if you've been through all of this already.

It may also be worth a call to your local Tech Support.
