Why is "sACN Disabled"?

When I go to the sACN page, it shows disabled.  I would like it to be enabled so I can see the output.  This is what I've found.

I have a newer computer with good graphics that runs A3D well.  I also have an older slower computer.  Both exhibit the problem. On the older computer, I was finally able to overcome the problem and see the output when I connected wifi.  I'm using a wired LAN and the wifi is not connected.  I connected to wifi, restarted Nomad and it worked.  It seems to insist I have wifi working for sACN to work.  In Setup/Device Setting/Network, it doesn't matter which interface has sACN checked, though they are all checked by default.  Unchecking wifi doesn't fix it, no does unchecking Ethernet.  The only thing that fixes it is connecting to a wifi node.

The other computer has MS virtualization software enabled and shows multiple vEthernets in the configuration.  Nothing I do enables sACN on that computer, probably due to some interaction with the virtualization even though Nomad is not running in virtual mode.

Any idea what I can do to get sACN to work without connecting to wifi?  Or what I can do if virtualization is enabled?

BTW, the problem is identical if I use the Nomad dongle or not, i.e. Primary or Offline w/viz.

  • Since I believe 3.2 how protocols are control are different, and now has far more granular control. My attempting is that you're not able to select sACN as the "interface" for a fixure/channel while in Patch > Path. However, you also need to globally enable sACN (which is usually on by default) under Patch > Protocols > sACN. If you're running an earlier version (pre 3.2) then under the Shell (where you choose Primary/Offline, go into settings > networking and ensure an interface is designated to output sACN. But in 3.2 you do not need to actually be connected to a physical or wifi network for sACN to be an option.
