Copying Cues

I have several scenes in a play that we want to look the same. During rehearsal we found we want to change that look. Having made the changes in the first instance, is there a way to copy that one cue to several cues down the list. e.g. Copy Cue 10 to 30, 45 and 50?

  • And something a bit out of the box...
If you know that you have something that will repeat and sometimes will be edited, you can record a preset or a palette of it and reuse in this manner. You than can reference your preset/palette in your cue.

The downside is, if you add some Channels to your Preset, or add Parameter that where not there prior, you need to edit every single cue where you used the preset/palette.

Just something to think about ; )

  • You could get around this by storing every channel and every parameter into the preset.
This could be an option for simpler projects.
I wouldn't do it for more complex shows though.
    I imagine this being a tracking-nightmare.

  • Admission of guilt here: For historical reasons our console show-files are all "Cue Only"!

Similar to the Preset and Pallette ideas I found I can record the "Base Look" into a sub. As we work down the cue list and come to a cue, I want to bring in line with the base one, I pull the saved sub up and then record that cue (again). This has the advantage that the original label/notes are not overwritten with the source cue's whilst the channel data is. I do like to annotate the cues to assist the tech on a show night. The Copy cue 3 to cue 3 would write over these and require more handling.

    Happy New Year to all!
