Load/merge a show file onto a host theater's Ion and preserve their channel patching

We're taking a show to AACTFest competition. The host facility has an Ion and has sent a basic magic sheet defining their fixtures and associated channels. I need to program our show with the offline software (cues and submasters mostly) and load that onto their system. Can I leave out the actual patching and inherit them/merge my show onto their rep plot show with the patches? I have a single 80 minute practice session to get it all right, but I'm also the stage director and technical director so I need to spend some of that 80 minutes outside the booth. I know plug-and-play isn't a reasonable expectation, but I'm looking to bring the best show possible given the competition constraints.

  • Yes you can. This can be done 2 ways. Either merge their patch into your file by using the merge function in the CIA and selecting only patch or you go the other way and merge your file into their patch. We often have touring shows come through where we have a prerig which is different to ours so once we patch and flash we then save the file. when the tour arrive we load their file and then merge our patch in and off we go.

This is of course if you use their channel numbers in your show file.
