Effects using focus palletes

I am trying to create an effect with my StudioSpots which takes them through three focus palletes sequentially.  I tried creating an absolute effect since the manual says absolute effects can use palletes as values.  I am having two issues with this.

The first being that the instruments do not move all together.  Under grouping I've selected "1" which helps, but some instruments seem to take their time more than others.  I've actually noticed this happen outside of the effect as well.  Is this something I can fix in another area?

The second issue is that although I've set the focus pallets as the value, the lights don't actually move to the second or third at all.  For clarification, it isn't a matter of the move being too fast.  My most DS unit should just tilt more DS at each point.  During the effect it actually pans to the side while moving downstage.  It also isn't a matter of the light needing to turn itself to get to the point.  When I tell them to just move from one focus pallete to the next in the order I want, they work just fine.  It is only inside the effect that they go crazy...

Suggestions?

  • For the first problem, it sounds like you may have inadvertently set a luminaire time on these lights. If you look in the [About] menu with the light selected, under Current Values, do you see 0 in Position MSpeed? If this is non-0, it is likely that you are sending a command to the light that says "don't move any quicker than x seconds".

For the second problem, it's hard to say what the problem is - can you email your showfile to luke.delwiche@etcconnect.com or just post it here?
