I’m trying to set up an Ion for busking for a music festival with six bands. I’d like to be able to put a focus effect on a sub and control the rate of the effect while not affecting the size. An effect sub slows down the fixtures, but it also makes the circle, figure-8, etc. smaller. An additive/proportional sub does the same thing. I also tried a sub that only had motor speed recorded on it. I’m guessing this issue comes up because of the relationship between cycle time and size. Is there anyway to break that relationship to control the rate on a sub without affecting the size? The work around I’ve come up with is having macros on direct selects instead of effects. Then have macros that select fixtures, assign an effect to them, then open the effect display so that rate and size are on the encoders. I’m hoping for a better solution than that.
