Manual cues

Hi,

Recently we had a Brazilian dance company at the Theatre Royal, and imported their showfile from a Strand disk into the Eos. The LD wanted to run the cue stack manually, so I used the syntax:

Cue 1 through [make manual] enter

The cues did indeed show manual fade times, both up and down, but when we played one back while the uptime remained manual the downtime changed to a 0 time snap. This change happened across the entire cuestack.

I fixed this with:

Cue 1 through time time [make manual] enter

which resolved the problem.

has anyone else experienced this?

Nathan.

  • Hi, that is the exact expected behaviour. The first [TIME] is the UP time and the second [TIME] the down time. Hence any cue can have either a manual up OR down time (with a respective timed down or up time) or of course both a manual up AND down time.

    Cheers, Liam.

  • Hello

Just a question, I can't operate effects in manual mode in the CUE, right? when I press GO with the crossfaders in down position the effect starts. This is normal?

    Thanks

  • I understand the Up and Down time syntax, it's just that when I selected a range of Cues every one of them displayed a manual Up and Down time, until I ran one. It was only then that it became clear that the manual time was only associated to the Up time.

Also, what I couldn't understand is why the Down times reverted to 0 seconds, when they had originally come in from the showfile as 4 seconds each way.

  • Nathan, I haven't tried your syntax but are you sure that both the up and down parts of the cue had separate manual times? A single [TIME] {MANUAL} command would make both the up and down times manual but both on the first fader (same logic as not having to enter [TIME] 5 [TIME] 5 just to give a cue both an up and down time of five seconds)

    Apologies if I have misunderstood!

    Liam

  • Liam,

Initially I didn't select Time at all. I wrote:

Cue 1 through [make manual] enter.

I can appreciate that it doesn't work, and next time I'lI use different syntax. I think my main issue is with the display side of things, which made it look like it had worked, until we tried to run a cue. It was only then that the display changed to Man/0 in the Time field, which seemed a bit odd.

    Nathan.
