Ion - swapping monitors

Have upgraded to ver 1.9 on my ION and have been having plenty of fun (and some bewilderment) with the new TAB key (doesn't seem a massive amount of info out there on TAB for ION users yet)

Anyways, just wondering with the demise of the SWAP key whether you can still swap the displays over when using dual monitors or do we have to fumble around the back unplugging things now?

Thanks

  • Lets say you have no tabs, but 1) Live Channel on the left screen and 2) Playback Status on the right and want to swap.

    - With nothing on the command line, Press 1 - Tab, which will now show the Live Channel screen with it's gold border hi-lighted (If touch screen simply press anywhere in the channel screen area) .  You've now selected Live Channel screen.  Now the Press - Tab and and the right Arrow key to move the Live Channel display to the right monitor.

    - Repeat for the Playback Status screen, selecting it and using the Tab and Left Arrow key to move it to the left monitor.

Another thing that took me time to understand, was that in order to change the screen format, the screen whose format you want changed, had to be selected with the gold border hi-lit.  It took me time to figure out how to minimize the Submaster section in order to see more cues in Playback Status.

  • cheers guys,

some useful tips there. While moving tabs around is great, my bug bear is when using the CIA and accessing the menus. Although I have two touchscreens and can use either, generally I have the CIA and playlist on the furthest away screen because it's not used as often, however when I do come to use the CIA because I have fat fingers I tend to swap the monitors over so the CIA is closest and I don't try and load a show when I meant to save it!

  • I'd like to vote for some means of either swapping screens or moving the CIA.  Monitors at the tech table often get flip-flopped, and I've found having having the CIA on the "far" screen is a necessity.

Physically switching the screens isn't so hard, but a button press would be nice.
