Moving CIA to other screen V1.9

So I've just got settled in with setting up the tech table and ION console and to my surprise I've found no way of moving the CIA to the other screen. Yeah, sure you can tab till your heart desires, but can't move the CIA!!!

Example-  you're in stage mode. Double hit the effects key. and for giggles let's make a step base effect. NOTE the step base editor is in the CIA. Well, move that editor to the other screen. Guess what, you can't!! It's stuck in the CIA.

Example-  Your programer wants to save to disk. Great Idea!! Swap the CIA from my side of the tech table to the other so the programer can see what he or she is doing. Guess what, you can't!!  The CIA won't move!!

THIS IS UPSETTING.

Solution 1-- Have laptop in mirror mode.  (great more stuff to tech)

Solution 2-- swap the video Y cable outputs  ( ok, but I want my ML controls on the bottom of my stage screen and it's now on the other side.   AHHHHHHH!

help me  help me help

sorry if I seem cranky, but spent over an hour looking at PDFs supplement V1.9 and telling me to press the [SWAP] key  ummm  sorry the [SWAP] is replaced with the [TAB] key.  Now I'm confused

thanks for your time

Johnny

  • I hear your frustrations, the 1.9 supplement wasn't as useful as I would have liked in terms of how Tabs worked and trying to understand all the changes while in tech is tough.

That said, once I figured it out, I like it much better then the older Swap function.  I like being able to open 5 or 6 split Direct Selects, record the layout as Snapshot 1, then close them out, go to L monitor as Live Table, the R as Playback Status recorded as Snapshot 2, then reverse them and record as Snapshot 3, etc...  so much easier then the olde.

Granted there are still some funky things happening, but I believe ETC is aware of them and there have been comments here on past posts about fixes to future updates, including the CIA.  Perhaps in your case, using as laptop with an extra monitor, but NOT in mirror mode might help, as the laptop user now has discrete control of their view(s) ?.

One issue a well with simply swapping video cables, is when you use a mouse, the pointer move R when the mouse goes left, etc... so that doesn't work.

There's also this document which might help

  • Little bit of dead-thread reviving here.

I'm finding myself with a similar problem today. We've got two screens, one of which is a touch screen, and I want to make the touch screen the primary display (the one with the CIA) so that, you know, having the touch is much more useful.

I've tried changing the monitor settings in the console settings and it's not taking.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey, are you not able to flip your screens, or get the touch screen working?

Are console settings that you are referring to the one at startup? If so try swapping your video DVI splitter (that's if you have one) the newer models have two DVI ports now which makes it easier.

If you have not  gone to settings at startup, do so. It's just like dual monitor setup for a PC. Then again Ion, Eos, Element family is PC.  grrrrrrrrr!

-Make sure the USB cable from your touch screen monitor is secure between the monitor and console.

Yeah V1.9 was really upsetting me. After going through a night with 1.9 I couldn't take it. My board op downloaded V1.8 later that night and installed it the next day. AWESOME!!! back to normal again. With the downgrade we only lost a couple of new features that I never planned on using. A lot of it has to do with networking. So knowing that we didn't care or have networking with our show  we downgraded.   If this seems like something you want to do, I'll help ya through the process if you'd like.

I hope this helps are at least gets you heading in the right direction.

Please let me know how it turns out either way.

    Good luck

    Johnny
