Moving Light Effects in Submasters.

Yes this is normal. When you create an effect sub the sub only contains effect data. The slider controls the scale of the effect. All non effect data must be supplyed from somewhere else, like a cue or another sub.

Not at all actually... Effect subs are more for applying effects ontop of other looks. If you want an all in one sub just keep it as an aditive sub. The fader will set the base look and the bumb button will start and stop the effect.

As to Lowell's comments, this is how we use effects on subs.  I have many direct select presets with assorted positions for the ML's to go to, I can then add in a circle, figure 8, ballyhoo type effect on top of the preset, as well as adding a color effect as needed.  I can then Sneak (time) a Preset for the ML's to go somewhere else, using the effect or not.  Much more flexible.
