Strand to Eos conversion

I am in the process of transferring all of our live shows from the Strand 500 format over to the Eos to prepare them for possible future productions.

I have successfully exported the files from the Strand and using ShowPort converted them into ASCII. I have also imported the show files into the Eos.

My query is related to the use of groups vs palettes in an imported show.

All the Strand groups appears to have been copied to Eos groups, rather than being translated to Colour/Beam/Focus Palettes, or even Presets as I would have expected.

Does the Eos somehow store the actual data in these groups, or are they in effect useless. I have looked through a number of cues in which the movers actually reference a group in their colour for instance. How does this work?

Thanks

  • Thanks to both of you, very helpful.

I've discovered what the original issue was, for some reason the desk doesn't always update the direct selects with the presets straight after import, but once I save the show and reload it they're all present and correct.

The move to feature is fantastic. I must admit I hadn't realised this was available for moving data between presets and palettes, another very helpful feature and particularly so in this context.
