esf3d file not working

So I try to send myself an esf3d file via gmail or save it onto a USB stick, but when I open it on my laptop or file explorer (on my laptop) it shows up as a piece of paper. 

Additionally, I have EOS installed on my laptop and I have tried opening the esf3d file with EOS but it is not letting me. Help!!

    When you double-click the file, does it still bring your to the window with the buttons Offline, Augment3d Tether? If that's the case you linked the file to the wrong application when you tried to get rid of the file type not showing an icon.

    If this is not the case anymore since you re-installed Nomad multiple times, your problem is elsewhere. It would still help to know.
