Best USB storage size to house an entire show file archive

Hi!

I'm the technical director at my local theater and as part of Summer maintenance, I'd like to offload some shows into a show file archive to de-clutter our light boards. We have 3 different venues which each have years of shows stored in their respective boards. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation as to a USB GB amount which could store files for all three venues.

Thanks!

  • First, check how much Data there currently is on the desks.

And you don't need to store all the files. Because there are for sure a kot of Backupfiles.

Without knowing how big your showfiles are and how many you have, i am confident do say that no more than 64 GB is needed.
If you have a crowded showfile with 15MB for a show that can be a higher count.

15MB Showfile * 30 Shows = 450MB for one Year on one Stage
    450MB *10 Years = 4.500MB for one Stage (~4,3GB ?)
    4.500MB * 3 Venues = 13.500MB in total (~13,2GB ?)

And since you make Backups, buy two and copy them to each other and store them in different places. For redundency reasons.
