fixture showing one wrong color in preshow color pallet check

3.2.10 36 ION XE Using various led fixtures.

Using Color Pallets channel/fixture based, not by type.

Of course some led fixtures have a separate white led. i.e.: RGBW. I record all those into a White pallet.

I also have a "color home" pallet. Those of course get recorded into that pallet.

Preshow I always perform an all fixtures with color, color pallets check and all movers in my focus pallets check.

This location/event: when I go through the colors and get to White, one of several fixtures of the same brand, model, type shows it as blue both on the MS and fixture itself. I correct it by selecting that fixture, changing it to white again and updating the white pallet. Both the MS and fixture changed to white. I go through all the colors again and it shows white with the others, as it should.

When I run cues that fixture shows white when it is supposed to be blue. So I change the cues back to blue, updating each one and the next day when I do my preshow color check, that fixture once again shows blue both in the MS and fixture itself when selecting the white pallet. And it shows blue in all cues that it is supposed to be blue. No other fixtures or colors do this and I have never seen this before.

Any ideas?

  • This sound like either you use the blue color palette in your preshow check when you think it's the white palette, or use the white palette in the cue when you think it's the blue one.

  • Thank you for the reply.

I am thinking if I used the wrong color pallet in my All Colors preshow check or in my cues, thinking I was using the correct one, then all fixtures would show the wrong color. I don't do a color check for each fixture one at a time. It is done as ALL fixtures with color as a group.

So when I select All Colors group AT AT and hit Blue, thinking I hit White, then all should turn blue. But that is not the case. When I hit any color except White, all turn the proper color. White is the only pallet that does not show the correct color on the ONE fixture ONLY.

And even if I did use the wrong one somehow on only that one fixture, it should not show up as the wrong color when checking groups of fixtures as I go through my colors in the order they appear on my MS and ALL fixtures should show the same color. ???

Here's how I do preshow. I click on my "all color" MS group icon. All fixtures in that group have color and they highlight on the MS. I then do AT AT and they all come on full home - all colors as all color white, not one a single led white.. They also all show the correct 'home" color on the MS.

Then while they are still all selected I go through each color in my color palettes and they all change both live and on the MS as each color is selected. Even Blue shows blue on all fixtures selected. However when I select the "White" color pallet all go off that do not have a white led and all come on white both live and on the MS that do, except that one fixture that turns blue both live and on the MS.

I have been doing it this way for many years and never seen this.

Here is how I created each pallet.

I select groups of same fixtures AT AT then open the ML control and set all colors to what I need. I do this for each group of same fixtures.

In this case I turn off all colors except white and all fixtures go to white (white led's only). I do this for all groups that actually have a white led as a choice. For those that do not have a white led I turn off all colors, which causes them to go black when doing a color check from pallets. I do this for situations when I want only White led's on and it keeps those fixtures from being in a wrong color when they don't have a White led.

After I am finished doing this for all color fixtures and they are all still on full and showing the correct color live and on the MS, I select the All Color group on my MS and I record that pallet or update it if it already exists.

When I do cues I also select groups of fixtures that I want all the same color AT AT and select the appropriate color, in this case "White". Those that have white all turn white. Which is these particular fixtures. After I get all other fixtures set, I record or update the cue.

So this time when I did the preshow color check and discovered that one fixture was blue both live and on the MS when it was supposed to be white using the White pallet, I selected that fixture only and changed it to White using the White color pallet. It cooperated and did change to white both live and on the MS. I then updated that White pallet.

When I ran cues and those fixtures were all supposed to be blue, that one fixture was white.

So I selected it again, changed it to blue, using the blue pallet and updated the cue.

Then when doing the all colors preshow check again and selecting the White color pallet, that fixture showed blue again when all others of the same brand, model, etc. showed white.

The only way I could get my cues to run correctly when I wanted that fixture to be blue is to change it to Blue in each cue and update each cue and not worry about the Preshow color check for that fixture.

I am sure there is something I did somewhere, but have no idea what that would have been. It is such a strange thing to only be happening on one of 18 of the same fixtures.
