Ion Touchscreen problems

I have 2 POSX touchscreen monitors and have had no problems until this past week when I changed one out for a VGA Monitor.  I had issues with that monitor, made some changes to the monitor arrangement menu, but then decided to go back to the touchscreen instead of the VGA monitor.  Now when I touch one screen, it has its affect on the other screen (i.e.- I touch somewhere on the Cue List screen, and a channel tombstone lights up as if I had touched that screen).  I've seen a post about this in the past but can't put my finger on it now.  I'm running Ion v1.9.

  • Mike, It sounds like you just need to calibrate your monitors. Exit to the shell [displays] {exit ion} then go into settings and scroll down and you will find a button that says calibrate touchscreens. Follow the on-screen prompts and hopefully you'll be up and running!

  • I did that and it didn't seem to change anything.  I'll try it again, though, and see if I missed anything...

  • I just swapped monitors in the monitor arrangement screen so #1 is on the right and it's working properly now.  I swear I did that, but I may have had the monitors physically switched the other way around when I tried it... don't know 'cause I tried so many things between this room and another room.  Anyway, the main thing is that it's working.  Thanks!

  • Glad to know it worked.  I just wanted to add a bit of clarity to your situation.  There are two components to a touch screen.  One is the USB touch membrane and the other is the video.  They are two completely different systems.   Since the console has no way associate which monitor has which USB touch membrane you need to tell it.  This is done while running the calibration utility in the shell.   If it is one the ETC touch screens the console will ask you something to the effect of “Touch This Screen.”  When you do this then the console will register that this particular monitor has this particular touch membrane.   This will need to be done when moving the console or plugging the USB cords from the monitors into different USB ports.

    Hope that makes sense.

  • I think I didn't calibrate on one of the try's- that's gotten me before, but like I said I must have missed one of the steps somewhere along the way.  Thanks for clarifying that for me about the 2 different parts.
