CP Questions

Question

1. I selected a small group of fixtures. Made a color change and stored that as CP 101. When I look at the live summary display, I see that not only the group I selected but several other fixtures have "CP101" in their tiles (tombstones). Why is this? 
 2. We have about 60 cues. We are using "Cue Only" mode. I want to adjust our footlights (only) color and record this as CP101 within an early cue. I want this to track this throughout the whole show. I'm pretty sure this is where I would use the [QONLY] button right before [UPDATE] [ENTER]. But at the moment nervous less all the fixtures with the "CP101" in their tiles (see above) now take on that color. 
 In a nutshell: How do I create a unique CP for just a small set of fixtures and then track that through the complete cue list whilst in "Cue Only" mode? Thank you.

You probably didn't have the selection of that small group of fixtures anymore when you recorded the color palette. Always keep an eye on your command line: if you press Record with a terminated command line the selection goes away and you're now recording more than you intended. If you have a terminated selection in your command line, use SelectLast before typing Record. 
 Let's say you're sitting in cue 30, have already created the color palette, your channels have a red CP101 in their tombstone and you want those channels to use that color palette from cue 10 to the end. Provided you don't have any block cues you can use this command: Chan 1+2+6 [Update] [Cue] 10 [QOnly/Track] [Enter]. If you're not sure if you have move instructions or blocks between cue 10 and the end you would better use this: Chan 1+2+6 [Update] [Cue] 10 [Thru] [Enter]. This way you're not using the tracking functionality to decide which cues to change but explicitly tell the console to change all cues from 10 to the end.
