Stream Deck plus set up

I'm sure this is an issue of my understanding. I am trying to set up a stream deck plus to use with my Nomad on a PC. I have installed the companion app, the stream deck app and downloaded the config file. I have read the instructions that I can find online. In the companion app I can see the buttons that would or should work in EOS. However, I can't seem to get them into the stream deck itself. 

I need some basic instruction as I'm not great with source code.

    Thank you all for the help. I seem to keep making some progress. I'm just at a loss on this one. The Stream Deck in defiantly connected to everything. If I move an instrument in EOS I can see the changes in the pan or tilt on the stream deck. As soon as I try to use the encoder for pan or tilt on the stream deck it "jumps" off of the instrument. As in I have it selected as if I was going to move it in EOS and then the instrument is now deselected.  Also, I am not sure why I have 2 IP addresses in the set-up screen on the stream deck itself. The 172 is the IP of my Nomad but it also shows the 127 loop back address.
