Effects on SUBS

Hi - I think I might have discovered an oddity, or perhaps its just me??

When loading FX onto subs, if I have a movement effect say Effect 901 on some MACs, when I transfer the effect to the sub, the intensities of the lights does not go onto the sub - how do I fix this?

The effect runs, but there is no intensity control - I want to be able to put a "look" onto the sub which includes movement and colour

I always used to be able to - has this changed?

Thanks

  • Declan, it you have changed the sub mode to be an effect sub then the sub will not contain anything except the effect. All other data (intensity, color, etc) must be supplied elsewhere. That particular sub is now dedicated to that effect, the bump buttons start and stop the effect that the slider controls the size of the effect. If you want a sub to contain all data including the effect then leave the sub mode as Additive.

Let me know if this helps!

  • I have got this to work as you have descibed... We do a fair number of one night shows that we run from subs and only have generics it would be much better for us to be able to have a base state on the fader as well as an effect other wise we have to use 2 faders on the EOS which only has 10 to run one effect... If you keep the sub in additive mode then the chase snaps to full instead of folling the percentage of the fader...

  • Chris, Effects get their timing value from the sub or cue that they exist in! Therefore if you set the bump button time for the sub to something besides zero you can get rid of the chase snap.

Effects submasters designed more for effecting pre existing looks, such as cues and subs.

Not to push product on you but you really might want to look into picking up a fader wing. It really does make life better!
