Color Palette reference lost when repatching

Hi all,

I've noticed that sometimes all reference info to Color Palettes ist lost in a show when repatching fixtures: the fixture disappears from the Color Palette and the color parameter values appear now as absolute values in all cues.

This happened in some cases when repatching a Lustr profile in 'Direct Strobo' into a 'HSI mode' or a SGM Q-7 in '8ch mode RAW' into the '4ch mode'. In all those cases the CPs where By Type.

Not sure when or why this happens as it doesn't happen in most of the cases. Currently on 3.2.5.

Is there any good practice or recommendation to manage Color Palattes when repatching fixtures?

Many thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Greetings,

  • I can't speak to the Q7s as I haven't used them, but with Lustrs, when going from Direct to HSI, you're replacing the parameters that have the color data... HSI doesn't have a Red, Green, Blue, etc.... and that's the values you have stored. I'd guess the times it works correctly are times you're changing profiles that have the same parameters in them ie: swapping two lights that both have CMY would preserve the color data no problem.

Best practice would be to copy your by type channel (plus show) to a dummy channel to preserve the old data. Then, change the fixture type. In Blind, select all of the color palettes (Color Palette Home Thru Enter) and recall the color from the old channel. The virtual Hue/Sat should get you close.
