Client won't connect if sACN Output Protocol is disabled

A client will not connect if the sACN Output Protocol is disabled. This seems to be a bug or mislabeling.

  • Some questions so we can start looking into this:

    • What's your software version?
    • What was the hardware you used, console and/or Nomad?
    • Which device was host and which was client?
    • How are they connected?
    • Disabling the sACN output protocol in Patch > Protocols or in Setup > Device > Network?
    • Is Multi-Console enabled in the shell?
  • Sorry for my late reply. I am in production at the moment. I experienced this in different configurations, with different software versions. First time with an Apex (host) and Nomad on Mac (client) (latest sw of all OS (pc and console) as of October 2025), lately on Nomad on Mac and Nomad on Mac (latest sw version MacOS on one of the two Nomads and latest console sw as of late January 2026.

Connection from the Apex was on the 2nd NIC (that was also why sACN was disabled, because I didn't think we would need it), via a switch. The connection on the Nomad to Nomad configuration was with a single network cable.

The protocol was disabled in the Setup->Device->Network

Multi-Console is enabled in shell. Isn't this by default on all (new) network connections? I am not sure, but I cannot remember ever changing this setting. If I look now (I am positive nothing changed in between) it is enabled.
