Bad RTSP stream crashes to shell

Hello! I've been playing with RTSP, hopefully so I can integrate a stream from camera positions, or pixel input, etc.

I had an RTSP source working over a (bad) wireless connection as a test, and after some time, it started causing the desk to crash to shell. Even after a reboot, attempting to view the stream (when it's broadcasting) appears to now instantly cause a crash to the shell. I did see it decode and display a frame before doing so.

Ion Xe, Eos version 3.3.5 build 69

It's a fairly simple isolated network, no problems with nomad or arfr, unfortunately I don't have my laptop with me today, so I can't test how nomad handles it and / or how a cleaner hardwired RTSP source is handled.

I was able to replicate this on our older Ion Classic (Win 7) on the same version as well.

  • Replicating this at home, on an entirely different network with nomad, was able to make Eos consistently crash again.

After switching to a locally running instance of OBS to iterate faster, it seems like any horizontal resolution below 320px causes Eos to drop dead. My original test device was a phone using resolution scaling which dipped below that threshold and also sometimes switched to a portrait orientation. 319px vertical resolution is stable however.

  • Thank you for looking into this l.

Would you mind pulling logs from your Nomad system by going to Shell > Settings > Maintenance > Save Logs and then sending them to eos(dot)moderator(at)etcconnect(dot)com. If they're too big you can send a link to a cloud storage service as well. That would help getting this written up asap.
