Upgrading from ION Classic to ION XE20 - moving files, patch, etc.?

We got a loaner for our ION classic and there was a procedure to migrate our files onto the loaner.  Now we're getting a new ION XE20.  Is the process the same or similar to get all our show files, patch, etc. onto the new XE20?

  • When I say classic, I should clarify, it's a Windows 7 machine, not XP.

  • Hi Jatsmith

The process should be identical to what you did before.

In the System Shell Setup there should be a menu to export the whole showfile archive of your desk to a usb drive.

On the new desk you can then import the archive from your usb drive in the same fashion.

Your fixtures, patch information and show information all live inside the showfile. This should all be there automatically when loading the showfile.

There are some settings like ip address, lighting network protocols and local dmx output mappings that are specific to each desk. These, as far as i know, have to be adjusted by hand, to get your new desk to work with your current setup.

    hope this helps.
