ETC Colorsource Fresnel V v1.1 DMX footprint after EOS v3.3.5 install

Can anyone enlighten me please?

After installing EOS v3.3.5 our ETC Colorsource Fresnel V v1.1 fixtures have increased their DMX footprint from 7 to 8, which has overlaid the last DMX address of one fixture over the first DMX address of the next fixture.

Is this an issue? There is no fixture profile under the ETC Colorsource Fresnel V which has 7 DMX addresses now.

TIA.

Roger.

  • The Eos fixture library is updated when you install a new Eos software version. And of course whenever you decide to install a fixture library patch. Showfiles that already use a certain fixture profile are not changed by that update, i.e. the previously working version of the fixture profile is preserved in the showfile.

The ColorSource Fresenel V has received a firmware update that added an additional DMX address. This change is reflected in the current versions of the Eos software with its accompanying library version.

If you want to continue using your fixtures with the previous firmware version, you will also have to use the fixture profile from older library versions. If you have older showfiles where you used the Fresnel V and it worked then, this showfile will continue working, unless you go to Patch > Fixtures and use the {Update Profile} or {Update All} softkeys.

To access fixture profiles that were available in previous version of the library you can use the idea in this support article: Merging Eos v3.x fixture profiles into v2.9.x. The article's case is the other way round from what you're trying to do (it's about grabbing a newer fixture profile and bringing it into an older version), but the idea is still valid in your direction as well.
