Saving show files

In the calm of the summer doldrums, can someone explain the hierarchy of the File Save structure, when using an RVI and Ion 1.9?

Ion is Main, RVI is in the house.  When the operator saves, the show file goes onto the Ion HD.  I recently found a bunch of show files on the RVI HD, when the designer initiated (?) a save command.

I recognize in the set-up utility there is a directory choice for the save command, I'm just not clear on what it should be.

When the RVI is told to save by the designer, in house, it saves to the RVI, yes?

Does the RVI Save command also initiate an Ion save command?

(if not, does this not create 2 distinct show files, the existence of which could really muck up a "restore previous show instruction"?  "Do you want my last save or your last saved show?")

What does the RVI need to be set to, to save to the Ion?

We have 2 venues, both with Ions with distinct addresses.  Obviously, we'd like to save to whichever Ion is the master, regardless of its address.  Does the above work, without changing address settings in the RVI command, when we change venues??

Thanks for any help offered.

  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong,

I'm pretty sure the Show File is saved to the Show Archive on all stations when any user initiates the save command.  We have an EOS with an RPU, Console and 3 client stations, and we have copies of every saved show file at every location, including the RPU (master) that we never touch now that we have remote power on and off.
