Excessive bootup times Ion XE20 with HD, not SSD. Installed new on 9/2022

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Our bootup times are in the 5-6 minute range and it appears to be the embedded Windows startup that is slowing things down. Board runs stably after that and on the rare instances where it does crash, (usually after operator jumping around in the cue list all day at a rehearsal), I exit to the shell and right back into Eos, and avoid the long bootup again.

I have a Windows 10 laptop that was also plagued with very slow startup, and ultimately the fix proved to be replacing the spinning disk with a SSD.

  • We called support and provided requested logfiles. They promptly sent out a replacement SSD under warranty. (I had mistaken slight cpu fan noise for the sounds of a mechanical HD). This fixed the board after the show run, and this dropped bootup to less than a minute.

BTW old SSD went down for good an hour before the last show of the run. I had my Nomad laptop onsite just in case, and we swapped out and we ran the show from it without a glitch! Everything worked, even the effects. Amazing...
