I'm in a space where I don't know the rig as well and I am writing on an Ion.
I made a color palette absolute effect to do a color chase. The colors look good but as they shift between they lose saturation and pass through white. Do i need to change what the background color is? They're color is at home at the moment.

Absolute Effects always linearly chase between two values. Looking at the Hue/Sat Circle, if you're chasing from Cyan to Red, you will have to inevitably go over white in the process.
You could try to counteract this by changing the path the color takes, by adding more palettes to the effect. This would be a Cyan, 50ish Purple, Red chase.
Background values dont really matter when playing back the effect, since the Channels are just fading between two palettes at that point. This is assuming you have all your color parameters stored in the palette ofc.
