Fixture Type Labeling Feature in v3.3.6 Not Compatible with Previous Version

When trying to label a fixture type in v3.3.6, instead of a keyboard pop-up that allows us to edit a single-line text, it is now a table with Fixture Property and Value, that then get formatted into the fixture type label.

While I love this new feature that allows a more organized naming convention, we now can't edit labels of custom fixtures that were made before v3.3.6. The old labels all transfered and showed up correctly in Fixture Type list, but when I edit them using the new Property-Value table, the added text in the old labels dissapeared.

We have a lot of custom fixtures that have been labeled before this update, and we will continue adding more custom fixtures. We might need to change naming convention down the road, and want to make sure all of them follows the same naming convention using the Fixture Property-Value format. I tried to export the CSV, hoping to edit it and re-import, but it does not carry the information of Fixture Property and Value, only the formatted labels.

Help! Any workaround?

  • Seconding this, strongly.  While having a better organization is good, this new labeling window is very frustrating.  I have a very specific way that I like to have my fixture types labeled, and now I can't exactly follow it without using this new feature incorrectly.

If this is going to be the way that fixture types are shown, we should be given more control over how these fields get populated in the type label.  Some way to specify "{Manufacturer}[SPACE]{Model}[SPACE][-][SPACE]{Mode}"

Also, I now can't put certain characters into these labels.  All of my Vari*Lite fixtures can't be labeled the same way anymore because I can't put an asterisk in any of these fields.
