Eos Family Software 1.9.1 is released

Hi everyone.  1.9.1 has been released and is posted to the downloads section of Eos, Ion and Element product pages.  This release has no new features, but addresses some performance and multi-console issues.  As such, it is highly recommended for all users of the product line.  Some new fixtures have also been added to the library.  Details of this can be found on in the release note, which is also on the downloads page.

Thanks much!

  • Hi Anne:

when the shortcut or hotkey pdfs are re-released with an upgrade, is it possible to have the new commands flagged as new?  It would make it simpler to see what's new and if I need to print and distribute new copies, or can just pencil them in on existing copies, or if 1.9.1 hotkeys are the same as 1.9, 1.8.6 etc.

Or, is it possible to release them as original, editable files, so we can personalize them in-house?

thanks.  just wondering.  Sometimes I almost dread the updates, for the work included (more than 1 console, separate venues, multiple manuals. . . )

  • Andrew, I understand what you are saying.  We can look to show something in the hotkeys doc in the future showing changes from the previous build (although a number of our users skip major builds entirely, so this will only be really useful to you if you upgrade with each release).  Since 1.9.1 is a patch build, there are no manual changes, hotkey changes, etc.   When 1.9.5 is released, we will be doing  a supplement.   When 2.0 is released, we will integrate everything since 1.7 into a single manual.

Regarding the documentation - this is something of a jump ball.  We have unhappy users when we issue an entirely new manual for each release.... and we also get complaints when we do supplements for releases.    It seems the only good solution is to do both.   This is only slightly tricky, as that means with each release, there are nine - maybe ten - pieces of documentation (release note, 3 each manuals for Eos, Ion and Element, 3 each supplements for Eos, Ion and Element, hot keys - perhaps two documents - one showing changes since the previous release and one current for new users - and perhaps a library document).

    thanks,

  • I completely understand the concerns of the whole manual.  It costs me $200+ for printing new manuals.  I'm not looking for that (in this case).

Along with the 1.9.1 release notes, there was a hotkeys 1.9.1 version.  That leads me to believe that something has changed in the hotkeys, or why else would they post a new copy?

If there is something new, I'm suggesting it be **, highlighted, something, so the user can identify what has changed in the paperwork.

If it was user-editable, the user could remove unnecessary commands, shrink it down to 1 page, take only the commands they need, etc.

    Just my 2 farthings.

  • Understood.    We will look to post the word version of the hotkeys document on these forums, rather than the downloads page though.

    Thanks for the input!
