EOS Profile Question

You can have Live/Blind tabs show more understandable numbers than the ones actually sent to the fixture. The ones displayed are the user values, the ones output are the DMX values.

Take a moving light with a 16bit pan parameter. The DMX output ranges from 0 to 65535, whereas the values displayed might be something like -270° to +270°. Whenever you have real-live units on screen (like degrees or hertz) you're looking at a user value that represent a different DMX value being output.

I guess one day all the manufactures and control board guys will accept a universal standard Profile. Probably based on a markup language.  

there is gdtf. but in my opinion the problem is that those manufacturers that already don't create a full and concise pdf documentation will also not create any profile at all, or at least not a working one.

Sad but true. The other truth is that we should stop buying cheap Chinese MLs and expecting Profiles. I suspect these are meant for the DZ market whereby they use instrument internal show programs (Sound etc.) and don't really cater for DMX control. We get what we pay for!
