We are planning to do a big re-addressing of the DMX fixtures in our Venue this summer (likely 100+ Fixtures). We have 8 showfiles, we would need to update. I would really like to be able to do this re-patching of addresses via a Merge while preserving all show data.
I'm aware, that the Advanced patch only merge doesn't touch show data but afaik, it does update fixture types. This has caused me some big headaches in the past, where updated fixture types started strobing in every Cue/Preset. This has lead me to only re-patch addresses by hand since then.
Updating addresses for channels by hand in multiple showfiles is going to be a pain, i would like to know how you guys would do it. Am i being to paranoid about fixture type updates? Is there maybe another workflow, which doesn't merge updated fixture types?
