Bug/Change of default behaviour report EOS V3.3.8 - when selecting channel in blind can no longer use intensity wheel immediately

we've just updated one of our control rooms to the latest EOS software, as we needed access to a bug fix.

not 100% when this changed but think this is recent, normally for many years when you would blind edit a sub, you would type 22 for lamp 22 and then you could immediately grab hold of the intensity wheel to adjust levels of a lamp, which we very heavily use as we do a lot of non-linear playback and editing of those subs/playbacks, throughout a program.

now when i go into blind edit a sub i have to select the lamp, then press intensity before i'm able to use the intensity wheel.

so rather than: {blind} + {2} + {2} + move wheel (to adjust lamp 22)

i need to do: {blind} + {2} + {2} + {enter} + {intensity} + move wheel (to adjust lamp 22)

would it be possible for this default behaviour to be re-instated in a future release please.

  • In 3.3.0 a long-standing bug was fixed. Encoders have always been locked when entering Blind and you needed to use any one of the encoder category keys to make sure you actually want to move the encoders and are not touching them by accident. The bug was that the intensity wheel should also have been locked but wasn't.

3.3.5 then introduced Setup > Device > Facepanel > Input Devices > Protect Wheels in Blind which is enabled by default.

  • thanks weird as we've been able to use intensity wheel in this fashion since 2019, it was very important to us when choosing which console to purchase.

so are you saying if we disable protect wheels in blind we'll be able to get immediate control on the intensity wheel again? don't mind the encoders being locked out, its just the intensity wheel we need control of again.

    Many Thanks.
