Face panel anomalies after CMOS battery swap

Greetings, Fellow Ions~
Ion XE 20
3.3.6.7 (?)
The console is installed and uninstalled outdoors every week.

A] I recently replaced a DEAD CMOS Battery. Right after that
B] When the mains switch is energized the power button does not glow blue
i) When pushed, the console boots up, but there is no color chase through the center section of the face panel
{The GO BACK button and vertical rows of buttons above them), but it otherwise boots up almost successfully

The center section mentioned above is unresponsive and dark, except CL1, Which  glows an inviting blue
None of the vertical buttons operate and I cannot load a cue to CL1. pushing the GO button does nothing but make that satisfying CLICK sound,
Workaround for this: employ 'GOTOQ'
CL1 appears to be present on the faders page.

ADDITIONALLY
There is no encoder response - while I can control intensity and color on the screen/ keyboard, the encoders simply stare back and mock me.
It did not occur to me in performance to check Pan/ Tilt et al onscreen. I'll look when at the venue

I believe I carefully selected the CMOS Battery, following the 'red wire right forks forward ' diagram.  Replacement instructions mention if the wrong polarity battery is installed " things "  will be messed up (  not mentioning what they might be)
Might they be these things ?

I have reinstalled the software with no changes to the state of the console
