Direct Selects in Snapshots

We have popped Colour Palettes on the direct selects of left hand touchscreen and then recorded a Direct Selects Only Snapshot.  However when we try and recall this snapshot the left hand screen repaints to show Groups not CPs.

Hmmm, what's going wrong?

  • Morning Anne,

I will investigate this further later, but in the meantime I can let you know that we are running the release code of 1.9 and not using overlays.

    Thanks Anne,

    Vic

  • Vic,

I've come across a similar thing, but first let me make sure I understand your setup:  are you expanding CP to populate the entire left touchscreen (100 buttons), then recording the snapshot?

If so, did you do this by expanding from the top half of the screen?  And, before you expanded, was the bottom half of the screen populated with Groups?

If you answer yes to all of the above, then we're experiencing the same thing!  What I found was that, when recording a snapshot of a 100-button direct select, recalling the snapshot correctly recalled the screen layout, but populated based on what was in the bottom half of the direct selects before expanding and recording the snapshot.  I found this behavior to be totally repeatable regardless of what populated the direct selects, and the workaround for me was to always expand form the bottom half of the screen before recording the snapshot.

Anne, this was on an EOS without the overlays, running the 1.9.1 beta.

    Hope this helps!

    Zak.

  • Zak,

The issue you have is written up as SCR 5023 and slated to be fixed in 1.9.5.

  • I have a question about using Snapshots in the Direct Select. I apologise if I should have started a new discussion but it kinda links in with the title.

Currently I've been using Snapshots as a quick way to navigate around the board.

    For Example:

    Snapshot 1 = Disp 1 - Channel Display, Disp 2 - Cue List

    Snapshot 2 (Focus Palettes) =

    Disp 1 - Channel Display,

Disp 2 - Direct Select Menu open in a Tab with Focus Palettes x50, Groups x20, Snapshots x20

    Snapshot 3 (Colour Palettes) =

Disp 1 - Colour Picker in Tab

Disp 2 - Direct Select Menu open in a Tab with Colour Palettes x50, Groups x20, Snapshots x20

My question is, would it be possible for snapshots, pressed in the Direct Select Menu to run in a kind of Background Mode. The problem I'm having is when I've selected a Channel, then want to change a colour. I press Snapshot 3 on my direct selects, which deselects my channel selection. Or is there another way of doing this?

    Many thanks

  • This isn't exactly the answer to your question, but it's an easy workaround. With 1.9.5 we saw the creation of Macro Modes, specifically Macros that can run in the background without affecting the command line. If you create a Macro that's something like [Snapshot] [1] [Enter], then set it to run in Background mode ([Macro] [Macro] {Macro Mode}), then you will be able to do what you want. Then you can just pull up your Macros display in your Direct Selects where your Snapshot display was and it'll work.

It's one extra step, but you can probably write a Macro to automate that action if you wanted to. This will also let you access more than just display functions when getting around the desk. Hope that helps.
