How can ION to boot from network device be disabled?

I submitted a problem to eos@etcconnect.com as per this post but 36 hours later I have received no response so I'm trying this avenue to see if it works better.

During the boot sequence, there is about a 30 second delay while Ion waits to boot from a network device. Our setup is such that it is highly unlikely there will ever be a network device from which to boot. I know I can press 'Esc' to skip the wait but this is a nuisance. Our older Ion does not behave this way so I assume it's buried in the BIOS somewhere.

How can I change the boot settings to remove that boot option?

  • You must have an external keyboard attached to do this.

Start with a console that has been shut down.  Push the power button to begin the boot process and repeatedly hit the delete key on the external keyboard.  This will get you to the bios screen.  Hit the right arrow key to navigate to "boot", not sure about the exact language.  At the bottom of that page it will say something like "boot sequence".  Use the down arrow to highlight that option and hit the enter key.  Highlight first boot device and hit enter.  Use the arrow keys to select your hard drive and hit enter.  When finished make sure you navigate the the last page and execute the save and exit function.

If these directions do not make sense or you need more clarification, I am sure that factory phone support would be happy to assist you in getting this setting changed.
