Triggering Qlab (for projection) from Eos using MIDI

Hi,

We would like to try and trigger our projection cues (in Qlab) via go on the Eos. I have tried searching to see if this is possible but haven't got very far. One thought I have read suggests using a second cue list to transmit MIDI, but is there a way to transmit MIDI on a single cue list as a external link or something perhaps? As we also have sound to trigger it would be differcult to hit three go buttons if the cues coincide!

Hope this makes to someone and you may be able to help!

Thank you,

Sarah

  • Sarah,

Eos cannot fire MSC commands about something that it is not doing.  That said, you tell QLab to listen for particular events on the Eos.

For example, if the projection cue runs with Cue 4 on Cue List 1 of the Eos, you simply need to tell QLab to listen for the MSC command to that effect -- I have been told, but I have not confirmed, that QLab doesn't listen to string details after the GO command. In that case, you can get particular and tell it to listen for the exact MIDI string. It should work the same either way.

A second cue list can be triggered via external link.  You can do this on a cue list basis (at the first cue of list one, type {Execute} [Cue] [2] [/] [Enter].  This will now fire a cue in list two whenever the cue numbers match.

If you haven't already, you should check out our wiki article about MSC and the Eos family: http://community.etcconnect.com/wikis/products/understanding-the-msc-commands-eos-family-receives-transmits.aspx

Finally, be sure that the software is configured correctly.  Use GCE to configure your Show Control Gateway, and be sure that the Eos is transmitting in the correct group and channel for that gateway.

Any other details that you have about your system setup would also be helpful in getting MSC up and running.
