TRANSFER SHOW FROM ION-EOS-ELEMENT TO EXPRESSION OR CONGO JR

Hi there,

Can somebody tell me if it is possible to transfer a show from Ion-Eos-Element to an Expression or a Congo-Congo jr ???? And if it is possible how you do it???

Thanks in advance,

  • Not sure about To Congo, but to Expression II/III, Insight same vintage and Express - yes.

Save the Eos/Ion (either on the console or in the off-line editor) - File - Export - USITT ASCII to wherever you can find the file

Open Expression Off-LIne editor and use Convert to read that file, then Export the show as a .shw file to the Expression series console.

Note that only basic stuff gets read correctly - I.E., Cue number, cue times, channels and levels.  Effects, Subs, Part Cues, etc... can get lost.

  • Thanks for your reply!!

It is for a quite big show with movers and a lot of part cues.... Do you think it is worth to risk it or I will find my self in a really bad situation ??

    Thanks,

  • I would not want to be taking a show as you describe from an Eos/Ion to an Expression.  Eos/Ion do not use discrete console channel levels for attribute info of movers so you are not going to translate any of the attribute data and will be dead in the water and needing to re-cue all that data.  Remember that Expression requires a console channel for every attribute on every mover.  Possibly  the first channel "might" be dim level (it's not, it's usually pan or tilt), but that's profile dependent and in any event if you currently have in Eos/Ion channel 120 as fixture 5, with channel 121 as fixture 6 as example, all that gets totally screwed in Expression as you may need channels 120 thru 144 for the 24 attribute channels for fixture 5, as example.  Or you would need to build new profiles in Expression to follow the channel assignments as determined by the Eos/Ion, with the fixture attribute channels in a range not currently used by Eos/Ion and that means totally re-cuing the show.  .

Any particular reason you want/need to do this ?.  As opposed to touring with/using an Ion ?.
