ION console noise

I have been noticing that my ION console periodically starts buzzing and making a clicking noise. This noise will continue for several minutes if I do not touch the console but will stop is I switch from live to blind. It also seems to be happening with greater frequency. The noise seems to be happening at random intervals.

Could this be a potential hardware issue?

I hear it too, once or four times a show.

My **guess** is something to do the HD. If I hit [Update] or [Recorde} (ie a heavy processing command), the noise stops. I don't need to finish the command, just get the console ready to do something, that I then [Clear] from the command line.

Doesn't answer your question, but at least you're not alone. . .

I know there was a problem with power supplies ('cause I had it with one of my customer's boards) where this silly piece of plastic insulator within the PSU comes loose and flops around into the fan.

It's as simple (hah hah hah) as swapping out the PSU....ie: have a a service center do it....or send it back to ETC. It should be a covered (because it is a known problem) by ETC.
