RVI Problems

Hi all, I was wondering if I could get some help.  We are setting up our RVI as a designer remote and it won't connect.  When I go into troubleshoot, I see the master, but there is a red line thru the name and won't let me select it.  The Ion has XPE version 2.1.0.9.0.2, and the RVI has 2.1.0.9.0.3, but unless I am mistaken they are both the lasted updated versions.  Any ideas?

  • I do know that if there is a large gap between powering up the Ion and then the RVI, the Ion's Ethernet port shuts down if it doesn't find a device (switch, RVI).

If a switch is plugged in to the Ion when the ion is powered up, the Ion finds the switch.  You can then plug in and turn on the RVI at any in the future.

    Other things to look at:

If the RVI is showing the ion, you need to go through "Change Master" to start listening to the Ion.

    IP addresses:

    In the Shell, Network Menu,

DON'T Check Enable DHCP.  IP Address 10.101.100.101 (this sets the Ion's address)

    subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

    Gateway, 10.101.100.101

    Network Services: CHECK Network Services;

    CHECK Address Service (DHCP)

    First Address 10.101.50.102

    Number of address 500

    Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0.

    DON"T CHECK Enabled Routed Network

    From the RVI Shell

    DON'T Check "enable DHCP

IP address 10.101.85.100 (set's RVI address)

Network services: DON'T Check Network services.  Everything else below is greyed out (until you reach Protocols).

These setting work for me and my Ion/RVI.

When powering up the RVI for the first time, you need to tell it to find and connect to which master.

The XPe version isn't important.  Press About on the console and RVI.  That will give you the software version.  Should be 1.9.1 or 1.9.0.  They should match each other.

    Hope this helps.

  • This worked perfectly.  Thanks so much for the reply.
