Advice on ION Console for a Smartfade user

Hey all,

I've been using a Smartfade for years. I mostly use RGBLED fixtures as the bulk of my rig, setting up sets of RGB/Master groups of four covering most, sometimes all, of the console control. I've ran hundreds of shows doing this. I've recently started working with a church who had someone donate an ION and a fader wing. The problem is, they have 10 dimmers and 6 rgb fixtures (in 2 groups), which currently makes the entire system 18 channels. I grouped them and I've been using them as submaster faders with the fader wing, hardly ever touching the main panel. My question is as follows:

The thing I used on the smartfade was the next mode. I set my faders and crossfaded into them. Is there a way to do that with the Submaster faders, and launching them with the go button? I know there are 'ways' to do it in blind mode, but not something that would horribly slow me down. It's tough right now, because I have 'too much' of a console to be controlling to small of a system. Any ideas?

  • I'm a little unclear of your goals.

You can operate the submasters with button push:

Give the subs a fade time: Sub xx time 3 time {softkey} Hold time 3 Enter

Pressing the bump fades up in three, and waits (holds) forever until you press the bump again to start the down fade.

If the middle time is a number N, the sub will hold ON for N seconds before fading down on its own.

Is that what your looking for??
