saving custom color scrolls

Hello, so, there may already be an answer for this, but in my searching of the forums I could not find it.

We have in stock several different color scrolls, and they usually change each show. So, every show I have to sit and punch in each color for each scroll we are using. Is there some way to save these to the board itself? So that when we are using a certain one again in another show I can just pull it up? It can eat up a lot of time when a show has 3 different scrolls in use.

Is this also possible with custom fixtures? Mostly I have one for an IQ with a dmx iris attached.

I get the feeling that there is probably an easy solution I just don't know, but any help would be appreciated, thanks!

  • If you go to the open or merge function under file in the browser, one of the options you see if "fixtures."  When you select a file and click on this, it will import your fixture library and any custom scrolls or wheels that you've created.

    Hope this helps.

You might consider just starting with a "template" show that has these in them, rather than starting from "file new" and then doing the open/merge.

  • I will definitely try this when I start up a new show, which should be in a few days. I want to say we looked at Merge once for this, but I think we did something wrong.

    Anyways, thanks!

  • Merge is a great way to do it, or if like me you can add all your stock scollers into the lib. Then build a "show starter" file.  Then build CP's for the one's your using for that show.  Building the lib. makes it really easy to calibrate them or build CP's.  I build CP's for my current show scrolls then bring up 1 of the channels, index it (meaning I update the CP's i built, then copy to (in blind CP) the rest of the channels that have the same scroll.)  Bingo all your scrolls are indexed nicely.  Or you calibrate then copy over, there are so many different way you could do this so it really depends on how you want program it.
