Ion - Page buttons not behaving properly

Ion ver. 1.9 Patch 1.0 GA Build 30   ~   1.9.1.9.0.30

Mid-day today, suddenly, I lost proper control of my page up & down buttons. I'm not sure what I keyed to get this situation(was it a combination of keys?, I don't know), but I was using select last, flexi and page up & page down for sure. The Page button now jumps from multi-intensity fixture to the next multi-intensity fixture, skipping the regular dimmer channels. When it jumps to the next multi-intensity fixture channel it places that next channel on the command line. Example:  Chan 2101 Intens_

When I Clear the command line it releases the tombstone but, DOESN'T release the Intensity field. With the command line empty I can enter new channels and capture their tombstones and adjust, but the multi-intensity fixture intensity field is still Gold.

I'm using Luma panels (14 intensity channels per fixture) with individual dimmer channels in between.

1201 Luma

thru

1221 Luma

next patched channel range:

2001

thru

2084 as generic dimmers

then, next range is Luma again

2101 Luma

thru

2112 Luma

The command line functions properly, highlighting the tombstone and adjusting levels.

But when I'm on the screen page that has 2001 thru 2101 and I enter a channel in a different range, such as, 1101, my screen doesn't refresh to show me 1101. It stays wherever it is. When I page up or down, the next multi-intensity fixture channel tombstone is highlighted. each page button press just moves one multi-intensity fixture up or down. If I am on the 2001 page, and I enter [1101] [enter], then [Flexi] it refreshes the screen to show Active Channels: 1101 is there, then 1119 (correct), 1158 (correct, but, now it gets weird) it shows 5 thru 13 incorrectly each as '14 channel multi-intensity fixtures', without the name LumaPanel Bulb over the channel tombstone, instead it says Dimmer. BTW, these channels are out, no level. hash mark not a zero. They are not active. Then the next channel is 2001. which it should be. I am lost as to why channels 5 thru 13 are there in Active Channels. When I [Flexi], it changes up the numbers so the next time it read channels 1101, 1119, 1158, then 6 thru 14 as multi-intensity fixtures.

Now after a few hours of this activity the Page buttons don't do anything... Hmm

I usually have screen set to flexi-Show Channels. I have blocks of channels purposely un-patched.

I have a work around in ML Controls in the CIA; the channels show up correctly there, so I'm able to immediately see the level before I change it.  After wrap I'll reboot & see what happens. If it doesn't clear up I'll go to the shell & Clear Persistent memory.

  • After wrap I got a chance to reboot the Ion and the Paging is back to normal. No further steps were taken

    BTW,

I would like to be able to use the page left to take me to the first channel in my rig and page right arrows to take me to the last channel page, as the Expression did.

    Thanks

  • It is possible that some of what you were seeing is because you got into in-cell editing.  Which is a feature that isn't fully supported yet and that's why we've not documented it.  If you somehow hit the "Select" button when focus is not on the browser, the display in focus can go into that mode.   You know you are in the mode, because you'll see a yellow highlight behind a particular parameter.  If you use the Page/Arrow keys, you'll now be moving from field to field.  To get out of that mode, hit escape.

Do you think that's what it was??

  • Ahh... that's what it was. I saw my yellow highlight was definitely moving field to field, and that explains the skipping of generic dimmer channels.

I was really thrown off by the 'creation' of my generic dim channels suddenly appearing as multi channel fixtures. and they where thrown in between a range that didn't make sense; ie., channel 6 in the middle of 1001 and 1158.

Thanks, Anne, for reassuring me about the 'in cell editing'.  I have never used the escape key, I didn't even know it was there... as I laugh at myself.

  • I wish I read this 24 hours ago, it would have saved me from a reboot as well.

    Those pesky undocumented features ;)
