1.9.5 Pixel Mapping

Well, Pixel Mapping is pretty neat.
A question...
The Pixel Map Edit page allows resizing and relocating individual pixels presumably to more accurately reflect the actual plot of ones fixtures.
Once applied, these layout adjustments appear in the preview window but not in the "Browser - Virtual Controls - Pixel Map Preview" window.
Or have I missed some refresh or toggle?

  • Hi Peter.  I think the tool you are looking for in the Pix Map Preview is Overlay.  If you toggle that one it shows you the patched cells.  Twice and it will show the the fixture layout.

Let me know if that works!

    Thanks,

  • Ah yes.
I didn't see the value of the ‘fixtures' function until I mastered the use of the mask.

BTW... I've been mostly working off-line where the mouse is always in hand. When on the console (EOS) I tend to not use a mouse. Are the Mask & Overlay buttons mapped to a touch screen somewhere? Can they be?

    Thanks

  • They are if you have the pix map preview on one of the internal touchscreens.  Otherwise you need to use an external touchscreen or a mouse.  They aren't currently mapped to softkeys when that tab is in focus.... although we could do.

Using this feature, for some reason I found myself setting it up with the ML controls opened above the CIA, and the pix map preview on the left touchscreen.  Now, that won't work for everyone all the time, but that left the external monitors open for regular display stuff!  :-)

  • Hi Anne,
Although I'm still early on the Pixel map learning curve, I would like to see Mask and Overlay mapped to soft keys. I suspect that it will be helpful for many. It also seems more consistent with the general approach to the EOS software so far.
I hope it will be considered.
    Peter
