Ion and 4 S4 Revolutions

Hi I am helping a friend out with a show.  The console is an Ion and we have 4 S4 Revs.  I have never worked on this console until yesterday so trying to learn fast but we also only have about 2 days to finish programming the whole concert.   My problem is getting the accessories to work with the Revs.  I managed to get one to work with the Iris but I the others (all patched the same) do not give me control of the iris.  Any ideas?   There is like 20 diff Revs BM/IM ... etc...   I managed to get the one working by just using the revolution original which uses 30 channels but the other three do not want to cooperate.

Thanks!

Patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

Welcome to Ion and Source 4 Revolutions!

The S4 Revolution has two basic versions: Original and Wybron. The Wybron version is different

from the original in that it has a Wybron Brand color changer on it, and hence the control of the scroller

is different. You can tell if you have a Wybron, if on the front of the S4R on the scroller, you see

"Wybron" etched into the scroller. On the bottom of the fixture, is also the part number for the Wybron "7160A1017".

Original has the part number 7160A1002.

So in the template list, you have Revolution Original or Wybron, and then the Accessories:

IM= Iris Module, SM= Shutter Module, RWM= Rotating Gobo Wheel, SWM= Static Gobo Wheel, and BM=Blank Module.

You need to pick the template in according to the order of the module in the Fixture. The first position is closest

to the scroller, and the second module is closest to the bulb.

So if your Fixture ís a Wybron with a Blank Module and Iris Module, you need to pick Revolution BM/IM Wybron.

    make sense?

  • Thanks so much for the quick response!  Definitely makes sense.

One last question, is there a way to tell which modules are in without opening it up?  I wont be able to get back in there until 10pm tonite and really want to get some programming done asap.  My worry now is that maybe some of them have different modules ... Thanks for your help! sorry for the newbie questions.

    Hi Patrick,

There are labels near the handles of each of the modules that also use the same abbreviations.

    Good Luck with your programming!
